Academic program
Students at Century Academy for Excellence will participate in a school program that emphasizes student-centered experiences that value the learner as an active member of the learning process. Teachers serve as facilitators who guide and nurture students to develop their skills and knowledge. Students will be taught on both an individual level and collaboratively with peers with curriculum and instruction driven by Common Core academic content standards. Unlike traditional schools, Century Academy for Excellence emphasizes the importance of a small school and small class sizes in order to maximize learning opportunities and interaction among peers and adults.
Summer Bridge
During the start of the school year, students are also offered the opportunity to participate in a summer bridge program that familiarizes incoming students new to the school with the school rules, expectations, and academic program at Century Academy. Summer Bridge also offers math practice for students who have not met academic expectations in math.
School Breakfast/Lunch/Snack
Century Academy for Excellence participates in the National School Lunch Program and provides nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack to its students. Students who submit a Nutrition Application and qualify, can receive these nutritious meals at free or reduced rates. All meals follow the federal and state nutritional guidelines.
After School Program
Additional learning opportunities such as an extended school day and extended school year programs are provided through the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program. The ASES program offers an after school program that provides homework assistance, tutoring, enrichment, snacks, and physical activity from 3:02 to 6:02 every school day. Saturday School is also provided as an additional means of support for students. The focus is on providing additional homework assistance, targeted tutoring, language and literacy development, and enrichment opportunities.
